Business Development Manager – General Insurance

About the job

Are you a seasoned corporate general insurance seller with your own book, tired of being one name among many at a global broker?

The client is an established UAE health-insurance broker, CII-qualified and already trusted with a strong corporate health book, now scaling a dedicated General Insurance (GI) practice — property, liability, professional indemnity, D&O, cyber and group life — alongside its existing lines. This is a hunting-and-relationship seat: you bring and grow a corporate GI portfolio, and an internal placement and technical team handles the insurer-side negotiation, so you can focus on the client relationship and the growth.

Reporting directly to Nikita, you’ll be the first “hot” hire in a wider GI build-out — further placement and claims leadership hires are planned as the business expands regionally, including a new Qatar licence.

What’s in it for you?

– Ownership of a corporate GI portfolio at a broker that’s genuinely building, not defending — real autonomy over how you grow your book
– No requirement to negotiate directly with insurers — an internal placement/technical team handles that side, so you stay focused on the client and the deal
– Commission up to 20%, with a further 5% available for exceeding target
– A clear growth path as the practice scales — leadership opportunities as the business expands into new lines and new markets (Qatar licence in progress)
– An agile, mid-sized broker that’s quick to adopt new tools and technology, not weighed down by big-broker bureaucracy
– A team culture built around long-term commitment and client advocacy, not short-term transactional selling

What will you be doing?

– Owning and growing a corporate GI portfolio, including tenders and government/institutional relationships
– Carrying out high-level risk assessment and product positioning directly with clients
– Coordinating closely with the internal placement/insurer team to get programmes placed and bound
– Maintaining client relationships end-to-end through renewal — this is an advocacy role, not a one-and-done sale
– Working across complex, multi-line corporate programmes rather than a single-line book

What do you need?

– A minimum of USD 200,000 in broker revenue (~USD 4M in premium equivalent), on a genuinely GI-heavy corporate book — not retail or individual lines
– Solid experience across property, liability, professional indemnity, D&O, cyber, group life or similar corporate GI lines
– UAE market experience preferred; fluent English essential
– A track record with tenders, government-level contacts, and placing complex multi-line programmes
– A stable career history — this client is looking for a long-term addition to the team, not a short stopover
– Arabic language skills are a plus but not required; existing insurer relationships are helpful but not essential

Don’t worry if your CV isn’t fully up to date.
