Destination Specialist

Destination Specialist growing community. Someone who can work with clients (B2C) and Ground Handlers (B2B), acting as a bridge between client's expectations and the service offered.

This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, an understanding of quality controls, the ability to find efficient and cost-effective proposals, and a full understanding of the workflow.

To succeed in this hybrid role, you must balance client-facing hospitality with behind-the-scenes logistics.

Here are the essential skills required:

  1. Hard & Technical Skills
  • Logistics planning: Mapping out tight trip timelines and activity buffers.
  • B2B negotiation: Securing competitive net rates and flexible cancellation policies from handlers.
  • CRM mastery: Using booking software - or creating effecient filing systems to track clients and vendors.
  • Financial budgeting: Calculating profit markups, managing multi-currency payments, and tracking operational costs.
  • Risk assessment: Evaluating weather risks, wilderness safety protocols, and emergency evacuation routes.
  1. Communication & Soft Skills
  • Cross-cultural diplomacy: Adapting communication styles to collaborate smoothly with local guides worldwide.
  • Expectation management: Clearly explaining physical difficulty levels to clients so they choose the right trip.
  • Crisis communication: Staying perfectly calm while directing clients and handlers during a trip emergency.
  • Active listening: Uncovering a client's unspoken travel desires to pitch the perfect itinerary.
