Position Overview
The Film Production Assistant (PA) provides hands-on support to the production team during pre-production, filming, and post-production. This position is ideal for someone who is dependable, organized, professional, and interested in building a career in film and television production.
The Production Assistant must be willing to work in a fast-paced environment, follow direction, maintain confidentiality, and assist wherever needed to keep production running efficiently.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist the Director, Executive Producer, Production Manager, and other department heads with daily production needs.
- Help prepare sets and locations before cast and crew arrive.
- Assist with coordinating cast and crew call times and communicating schedule updates.
- Help distribute call sheets, scripts, scene information, schedules, and other production materials.
- Assist with checking cast and crew in and confirming attendance.
- Help maintain order and professionalism on set.
- Escort or direct cast, background actors, guests, and crew to designated areas.
- Assist with equipment setup, breakdown, loading, and organization when directed by the appropriate department.
- Help coordinate wardrobe, props, production supplies, meals, transportation, and other logistical needs.
- Run approved production-related errands.
- Assist with keeping filming locations, holding areas, and production spaces organized.
- Support behind-the-scenes content and production documentation when requested.
- Help ensure cast and crew are prepared when their scenes are called.
- Immediately communicate delays, absences, emergencies, or production concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Assist with wrap procedures at the end of filming.
- Perform additional production-related duties as assigned.
Professional Expectations
Production Assistants are expected to understand that film and television production may involve long and irregular hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays, and travel.
The Production Assistant must:
- Arrive on time and production-ready for every scheduled call.
- Maintain a professional attitude with cast, crew, executives, clients, and location representatives.
- Follow the established production chain of command.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding scripts, storylines, locations, cast information, business matters, and unreleased production content.
- Never post behind-the-scenes photographs, videos, scripts, call sheets, or confidential production information without authorization.
- Avoid unnecessary distractions while on set, including excessive personal phone use.
- Follow all safety rules and instructions.
- Be flexible and able to adjust quickly when production schedules change.
Qualifications
- Previous film, television, theater, event production, or entertainment experience preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license may be required.
- Must be comfortable traveling when production requires it.
- Ability to stand and move around for extended periods and assist with reasonable production-related physical tasks.
- Must demonstrate discretion, maturity, dependability, and professionalism.
Confidentiality
Because Production Assistants may have access to confidential scripts, schedules, talent information, business information, and unreleased content, confidentiality is a condition of working with the production. A Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) may be required before receiving production materials or entering restricted production areas.

Pay: $23.55 - $28.36 per hour
