Final Proofreader Needed for 345-Page Sports Betting Education Book

I am looking for an experienced professional book proofreader to perform the final independent proofreading pass on a completed 345-page nonfiction educational book about sports betting.

The manuscript has already gone through extensive writing, editing, technical review, formatting, and an internal publication audit. This is NOT a developmental editing, rewriting, ghostwriting, or content-creation assignment. The book's structure, educational approach, voice, and core content are already approved.

The purpose of this assignment is to provide a fresh set of professional human eyes before the manuscript is finalized for publication.

ABOUT THE BOOK

SportsBookIQ is an educational sports betting brand built around one mission:

Teach people how to think like professional sports bettors—not gamblers.

The book teaches concepts including probability, expected value, odds, bankroll management, market behavior, research, modeling, risk management, betting psychology, and disciplined decision-making.

The manuscript is approximately 345 formatted pages and is written in American English.

SCOPE OF PROOFREADING

Please carefully read the complete manuscript and identify genuine publication-level errors, including:

• Spelling and typographical errors

• Grammar errors

• Punctuation errors

• Missing, duplicated, or incorrect words

• Capitalization inconsistencies

• Obvious sentence-level errors or accidental awkward wording

• Inconsistent terminology

• Heading or numbering inconsistencies

• Cross-reference or page-reference errors

• Formatting inconsistencies you notice while reading

• Obvious numerical or mathematical errors you notice

• Any other clear errors that should be corrected before publication

IMPORTANT — WHAT NOT TO DO

Please do NOT:

• Rewrite passages simply for stylistic preference

• Change the author's voice

• Restructure chapters or sections

• Perform developmental editing

• Add new content

• Remove approved educational content

• Simplify technical concepts merely because you would phrase them differently

• Change sports-betting terminology without identifying why it is incorrect

• Make direct changes to the master manuscript without approval

• Rely on AI or automated grammar software as a substitute for personally reading and proofreading the complete manuscript

You may use professional proofreading tools as aids, but this assignment requires a genuine human read of the entire book.

DELIVERABLE

Please return either an annotated PDF or a clearly organized correction report.

For each recommended correction, please identify:

1. Page number

2. Existing text

3. Recommended correction

4. Brief reason for the correction when the reason is not obvious

Do not directly rewrite the master manuscript. All proposed corrections will be reviewed before they are incorporated.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

I am looking for someone with demonstrated professional experience proofreading published nonfiction books.

Experience with one or more of the following is especially valuable:

• Finance

• Statistics or probability

• Sports betting

• Sports publishing

• Educational or technical nonfiction

Strong command of American English and experience performing final pre-publication proofreading are required.

When submitting your proposal, please briefly tell me:

• How many nonfiction books you have professionally proofread

• Whether you have experience with finance, statistics, sports betting, or similar technical subject matter

• Your estimated turnaround time for a careful proofread of this 345-page manuscript

• How you normally deliver proofreading corrections

• Whether you personally read the complete manuscript rather than relying primarily on AI or automated proofreading tools

This is a fixed-price project with a starting budget of $400. I am willing to consider reasonable proposals from particularly well-qualified candidates.

The objective is simple: provide one final, careful, independent human quality-control pass before the book is locked for publication.
