Lexicographer / Taxonomist / Language Researcher – Find Words That Don’t Exist Yet - Contract to Hire

*Important - please note that although this account shows 0 total hires, we actually do hire dozens of individuals on upwork via my other account which is operated by my business partner. This upwork account is only used to make more posts.

Bloxicon is a free online dictionary that aims to include words and terminology not yet recognised by established dictionaries.

Your job is to find new or overlooked words that got overlooked by traditional dictionaries, so we can add them to our dictionary.

There are many ways to do this, but 2 obvious ways this can be done are:

a) Identifying things that people do / talk about but don’t have a real word to label it yet. For this, the key is to identify the patterns, what have you seen again and again, but don't have a label / name to describe the action, thing, characteristic etc….

b) Find and Identify words that have been used in the past, on reddit and other parts of the internet, but rarely, and don’t have an official dictionary definition.

The role is difficult because it requires someone who is able to identify patterns. For route a) - you will need to be able to read between the lines and identify the things that exist (not just nouns, but verbs and adjectives too) that no one else notices and doesn’t have an official word yet.
