Mobile Taco Cart Cook (Part-Time, Event-Based)

Mobile Rolled Taco Cart Cook

Pay: $25–$50 per hour

Traveling Savory Carts is looking for a dependable and experienced Taco Cook to independently operate our mobile rolled taco cart at private events throughout the Bay Area.

This is an event-based position that requires working independently without direct supervision. You will be responsible for setting up the cart, cooking rolled tacos, assembling loaded taco cups, serving guests, restocking ingredients and maintaining a clean cooking station throughout the event.

The ideal candidate must be an excellent multitasker who can manage several responsibilities at once while remaining calm, friendly and professional. During busy service periods, you will need to cook, assemble orders, assist guests, monitor food temperatures and keep your workstation clean and organized.

Responsibilities:

  • Travel independently to weddings, birthdays, corporate events and private parties
  • Arrive on time and have the cart prepared before service begins
  • Safely operate fryers and other hot cooking equipment
  • Cook fresh rolled tacos throughout the event
  • Assemble loaded taco cups with lettuce, cheese, crema, guacamole, pico de gallo, pickled onions and salsa
  • Serve guests quickly, professionally and with a friendly attitude
  • Monitor food temperatures and follow all food-safety procedures
  • Restock ingredients and supplies throughout service
  • Maintain an organized, clean and sanitary cooking station
  • Manage multiple orders during busy serving periods
  • Break down and clean the cart and cooking equipment after each event
  • Communicate with management before and after each scheduled event
  • Handle minor problems independently and make responsible decisions when needed

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must have reliable own car
  • Must be comfortable traveling throughout the Bay Area
  • Must be available on weekends, evenings and some holidays
  • Must be dependable, punctual and able to work independently
  • Must have strong multitasking and time-management skills
  • Must be comfortable working around hot oil and cooking equipment
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
  • Must be able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced event environment
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a valid California Food Handler Card
  • Previous cooking, restaurant, catering or food-cart experience is strongly preferred
  • Must communicate professionally with clients, guests and management

Event dates, hours and locations will vary. This is a part-time, event-based position that is ideal for someone seeking flexible weekend work. Pay ranges from $25 to $50 per hour, depending on experience, responsibilities and the specific event.

Pay: $25.00 - $50.00 per hour

Expected hours: 3.0 – 15.0 per week
