Job Summary

We are an established private optometry practice in Victorville looking to hire a friendly experienced, and patient-focused Optician to join our team in a permanent position.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working directly with patients, takes pride in providing excellent customer service, and would like to be part of a friendly, professional small-office environment.

Duties

  • Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear by conducting thorough consultations and understanding their visual needs
  • Dispense spectacle lenses and fit eyewear frames accurately, ensuring optimal comfort and vision correction
  • Adjust, dispense, and troubleshoot eyewear.
  • Perform eyewear adjustments, repairs, and frame fittings to ensure proper fit and durability
  • Manage patient records using EMR/EHR systems while maintaining strict clinical confidentiality policies in accordance with HIPAA and health regulation policies
  • Process sales transactions using POS systems, handle cash register operations, and assist with retail sales of eyewear products

Requirements

  • Proven experience in retail optometry or optical laboratory environments with knowledge of optics, eyewear fittings, and spectacle lens dispensing
  • Strong understanding of ophthalmology principles, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye health
  • Familiarity with health regulation policies such as HIPAA, state healthcare regulations, clinical confidentiality policies, and aseptic techniques
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations including pediatrics
  • Basic math skills for retail math calculations, medical coding, and processing transactions accurately
  • Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for medical records management and documentation compliance
  • Knowledge of medical coding related to ophthalmology procedures is a plus but not mandatory
