The Role As a Phonics Teacher / Reading Tutor, you will provide engaging online literacy instruction designed to help learners develop phonemic awareness, phonics skills, reading fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. You will assess individual reading abilities, prepare age-appropriate lessons, and adapt teaching techniques to support different learning needs and progress levels. This part-time, fully remote opportunity offers flexible working hours and the opportunity to work with learners from diverse backgrounds. Key Responsibilities - Deliver engaging one-to-one or small-group online phonics and reading lessons. - Assess learners' reading abilities, phonemic awareness, pronunciation, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. - Develop structured lesson plans, reading activities, phonics exercises, worksheets, and digital learning materials. - Teach letter sounds, sound blending, decoding, word recognition, spelling patterns, and foundational reading skills. - Guide students through age-appropriate reading materials to improve fluency, pronunciation, vocabulary, and comprehension. - Use interactive activities, stories, games, and digital resources to encourage learner participation and confidence. - Adapt teaching methods and lesson content according to individual learning styles, abilities, and objectives. - Monitor learner progress through reading assessments, assignments, participation, and regular performance reviews. - Provide clear, constructive feedback and personalized recommendations to support continued literacy development. - Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance lesson quality, learner engagement, reading development, and overall learning outcomes. Requirements - Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Education, English, Early Childhood Education, Linguistics, or a related field is preferred. - Minimum of 3+ years of professional work experience is preferred. - Strong understanding of phonics, early literacy, reading instruction, language development, and learner support. - Experience teaching or tutoring children and learners at beginner or developing reading levels. - Excellent written and spoken English communication skills with clear pronunciation. - Strong understanding of phonemic awareness, decoding, blending, reading fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension strategies. - Excellent communication, presentation, classroom management, organizational, and interpersonal skills. - Comfortable using Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, online whiteboards, and digital learning platforms. - Ability to manage multiple learners, lesson schedules, and priorities in a fully remote environment. - A patient, encouraging, creative, and learner-focused mindset with a passion for literacy development and helping students become confident readers.
