Primary Senco / Sen Teacher

About the role

This is a full-time position in which the successful candidate will lead and develop provision for pupils with additional learning needs, working collaboratively with staff, parents and external agencies to ensure high-quality support and inclusive practice across the primary phase.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage provision for students with special educational needs and additional learning needs across the primary school
  • Identify, assess and monitor students requiring additional support, ensuring appropriate interventions are in place
  • Coordinate and oversee individual support plans, targets and provision mapping
  • Support teachers in planning differentiated learning and inclusive classroom practice
  • Coach and mentor staff to strengthen high-quality teaching for all learners
  • Monitor the progress of students with additional needs and use data to inform next steps and interventions
  • Work in partnership with parents, teachers and external professionals to support student outcomes
  • Lead review meetings and contribute to multi-agency collaboration where appropriate
  • Support the development and implementation of the school’s inclusion and SEND strategy
  • Ensure compliance with school policies and relevant local and international SEND guidance
  • Contribute to safeguarding and pastoral support for vulnerable students
  • Support the Senior Management Team in driving an inclusive school culture and wider school improvement priorities
  • About you

    We are looking for a passionate and experienced professional who:

  • Holds a BA in Special Educational Needs
  • Has proven experience as a SENCO or in a significant SEND leadership role
  • Holds, or is working towards, a recognised SENCO/Inclusion qualification (desirable)
  • Has strong knowledge of SEND practice, interventions and inclusive teaching strategies
  • Has experience working collaboratively with parents and external agencies
  • Demonstrates strong leadership, organisation and communication skills
  • Is committed to high standards, inclusion and improving outcomes for all learners
