As a faith- and values-based organization, we hire and serve people of all backgrounds and walks of life - there is a place for everyone to belong here.<br><br><strong>Mission Statement<br><br></strong>The Salvation Army exists to share the love of Jesus Christ, meet human needs and be a transforming influence in the communities of our world.<br><br><strong>Job Description<br><br></strong><strong><em>Position Summary<br><br></em></strong>RN is responsible for promoting holistic health through nursing care to residents with gerontological, chronic, palliative, and complex care needs.<br><br>Is responsible for assisting in and administering direct resident care utilizing the nursing process through assessment, planning, implementing and ongoing evaluation of professional nursing care.<br><br>Expectations of nursing care are based on the CRNBC Standards for nursing practice, Salvation Army Mission and Philosophy Statements and Sunset Lodge Policies and Procedures.<br><br><strong>Responsibilities<br><br></strong><ul><li>Reports immediately to the DOC/CCC or Manager any observation or suspicion of resident abuse.</li><li>Through appropriate behavior and work procedures, resident safety is priority while working in the facility.</li><li>In collaboration with the resident, family and interdisciplinary team members develops, implements, evaluates, and documents individual care plans for residents. Ensuring current care requirements and issues are in accordance with the nursing standards and procedures.</li><li>Administers prescribed medications and treatments. </li><li>Performs nursing procedures such as, but not limited to, catheter insertion and removal, sterile and non- sterile dressing, stoma care, taking and recording temperature, respiration and blood pressure, and records procedures.</li><li>Monitors and reports changes/concerns in resident’s condition</li><li>Communicates residents’ specific information to families/caregivers and other professionals.</li><li>Documents actual and potential residents’ strengths/issues, recommends nursing interventions and expected outcomes in accordance with CRNBC Standards for nursing practice and Sunset Lodge policy and procedures.</li><li>Completes all assigned RAI/MDS assessments.</li><li>Successfully completes annual AIS Competency exam.</li><li>Participate in Resident Care Conferences and all other committees as directed.</li><li>Recommends changes and participates in the development of facility policy and procedures.</li><li>As a role model conducts self in a manner congruent with that of a professional registered nurse.</li><li>Assists in the orientation of new employees and residents.</li><li>Directs LPN and RCAs in day-to-day care of the residents.</li><li>Performs other related duties as required.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Qualifications<br><br></strong><strong>Education and Experience</strong><strong>:<br><br></strong><ul><li>Baccalaureate degree in nursing or graduation from a recognized nursing program and up to one year of recent related experience or combination of education training or experience.</li><li>Current full practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC).</li><li> Skills and Abilities:</li><li>Ability to recognize and maximize resident’s choice, independence, and participation in accordance with the residents’ care plan.</li><li>Ability to work cooperatively with all staff and maintain a working climate that is positive, respectful, and mutually supportive.</li><li>Ability to provide work direction.</li><li>Ability to develop strategies to match limited resources and emergency situations.</li><li>Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work in a continuously changing environment and take initiative to ensure effective and timely delivery of services.</li><li>Ability to operate all related equipment.</li><li>Physically and mentally capable of performing the duties of this position.</li><li>Responsive, outgoing attitude and good interpersonal skills.</li><li>Ability to type and effectively utilize a variety of computer software applications.</li><li>Proficiency to communicate effectively in English – both verbally and in writing.</li><li>Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Compensation<br><br></strong>The target hiring range for this position is $41.42 to $48.67 with a maximum of $55.91.<br><br>Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.<br><br>The Salvation Army will provide reasonable accommodation upon request.
