Royal Grammar School Guildford Qatar is seeking an outstanding, innovative and enthusiastic Secondary Biology Teacher to join our thriving Science Department.

The successful candidate will inspire students through engaging Biology lessons while delivering an ambitious curriculum across Key Stage 3, IGCSE and AS Level.

About the Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver high-quality Biology lessons across the Secondary School.

  • Teach Biology at Key Stage 3, IGCSE and AS Level.

  • Support the wider Science Department.

  • Inspire curiosity through practical investigations.

  • Promote scientific enquiry and critical thinking.

  • Prepare students for external examinations.

  • Contribute to curriculum development.

  • Participate fully in the wider life of the school.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging Biology lessons.

  • Develop practical investigative skills.

  • Prepare students for IGCSE and AS examinations.

  • Monitor and assess student progress.

  • Maintain high standards of teaching and behaviour.

  • Promote independent learning.

  • Ensure safe laboratory practice.

  • Contribute to Science enrichment activities.

  • Support curriculum development.

  • Communicate effectively with parents and colleagues.

Essential Qualifications

Applicants must have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology or a closely related Life Science discipline.

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

  • PGCE, BEd or equivalent.

  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.

Essential Experience

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • At least 3 years of successful secondary Biology teaching experience.

  • Experience teaching the British Curriculum.

  • Experience teaching IGCSE Biology.

  • Experience teaching AS Level Biology is highly desirable.

  • Experience using assessment to improve learning.

  • Strong classroom management skills.
