Social Media Manager - Remote Entry Level
About the role
We're looking for a Social Media Manager to own and grow our social presence across multiple platforms. You'll create compelling content, manage our community, implement strategy, and help shift our social approach toward measurable results. This is a hands-on role where you'll work closely with a small team and take real ownership of our social channels.
What you'll do
Content Creation & Community Engagement
Concept, create, edit, and publish engaging social-first content including short-form video, graphics, carousels, and platform-native formats. Use storytelling techniques and current trends to bring our mission to life across Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and emerging platforms.
Own and manage our social editorial calendar, identifying timely and evergreen story opportunities aligned with campaigns, events, and organizational priorities.
Build genuine relationships with supporters, partners, and community members. Turn those relationships into social content opportunities and collaborations.
Keep our presence active and human through consistent engagement, community building, and responsive interaction—not just scheduled posting.
Direct content work to freelancers, volunteers, and vendors as needed, providing clear creative direction.
Strategy & Growth
Implement our social strategy across all platforms, continuously refining our approach based on performance.
Support the shift in our paid social strategy toward revenue building, working with our ads manager on content and targeting.
Track organic and paid social performance, translating metrics into actionable insights and next steps.
Build and maintain a year-round content calendar aligned with campaigns, fundraising events, and key organizational themes.
Skills/background needed
Proven social media management experience for a nonprofit, brand, or mission-driven organization. Experience with paid social campaigns focused on results (not just reach) and working with ads managers or agencies is helpful.
Self-starter mindset—you spot opportunities, take action, and can execute an existing strategy while knowing when to adjust.
Strong social-first content creation skills including short-form video conception, shooting, and editing. Solid understanding of internet culture, trends, and platform best practices.
Sharp writing and captioning skills, with the ability to adapt your voice across different platforms.
Comfort reading organic and paid analytics to identify top performers and inform strategy.
Collaborative working style suited to small teams, external vendors, and high-profile partners.
Working knowledge of tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Meta Business Suite, Google Drive, or similar platforms.
Full training providedon our processes, platforms, and mission. We welcome candidates with foundational skills who are ready to grow.
